Dry Needling (DN) therapy is used in this office to address Trigger Points or “muscle knots” as well as joint inflammation allowing patients to return to normal activities faster.
DN differs from acupuncture as acupuncture is based off of 2-3000 years of oriental medicine and the goal is to affect the flow of energy in the body. DN is based off of the last 40 years of joint injection and trigger point therapy with medication. DN does not use medication to inject into the tissue, this is why it is called “dry needle”. The therapy is directed at increasing blood flow resulting in better healing. DN also effects pain receptors to decrease pain.
Reasons to incorporate DN as part of a treatment plan:
- Reduces Joint Inflammation.
- Increases Range Of Motion.
- Promotes Natural Healing.
- Reduces Pain.
- Increases Proper Blood Flow.
- Decreases Muscle Tension.
- Treats Tendonitis.
- Treats Trigger Points.
